Laser hair removal
for every skin tone,
in a room that finally feels like yours.
Fewer sessions, less regrowth, no more monthly shaving cycle. Four medical-grade lasers, a Level 4 therapist who's been doing this since 1988, and a space built for you to feel completely at ease. That's what you're paying for, not a rushed 10 minutes in a strip-lit chain.

Overview
The treatment, in plain English.
What it is
Laser hair removal uses focused light energy to disable individual hair follicles. Our four medical-grade machines cover a wide range of skin tones and hair colours, with built-in cooling to keep the treatment comfortable across even large areas like full legs, back or chest.
Who it's for
For anyone tired of the shave-stubble-ingrown cycle. Suitable across most skin tones with dark hair. If your hair is very light, grey, blonde or white, we will honestly tell you at consultation and steer you towards electrolysis on our Apilus machine, the permanent option for hair the laser cannot see.
When to book it
Book when regrowth is starting to fill in but the skin is not tanned or irritated. We ask you to shave the area 24 hours beforehand, avoid strong sun for two weeks either side, and stop plucking or waxing at least four weeks before your first session so the hair is present in the follicle.
Why go professional
Home devices are a fraction of the power and, in the wrong hands, medical-grade lasers can burn or scar. Our therapists set energy levels manually per skin type, cool the area throughout, and record every session so the plan improves as your hair thins.

What "just leaving it" really costs
Shaving forever is not a plan, it is a habit that quietly costs you time, money and confidence every single week.
If it's left alone
- ◆Ingrown hairs and folliculitis that darken and scar over years of shaving or waxing.
- ◆Razor bumps and PFB along the jaw, bikini line and underarms that never fully settle.
- ◆Hundreds of pounds a year on blades, wax pots and salon top-ups with nothing permanent to show for it.
- ◆The mental load of always tracking when you shaved last, whether you can wear that outfit, whether you can go swimming.
- ◆Untreated PCOS or hormonal hair keeps returning coarser after tweezing or threading, tugging on the follicle and worsening pigmentation.
Common mistakes we fix
- ◆Booking cheap laser without a proper patch test, then reacting badly on the day.
- ◆Assuming one course fits everyone, hormonal, hereditary and cyclical hair growth all need different session spacing.
- ◆Turning up tanned, fake tanned or with active retinoids on the skin and having the session cancelled.
- ◆Buying a home IPL and giving up after six weeks because results are slow and coverage is patchy.
- ◆Waxing between sessions, which pulls the hair the laser needs to target.

Why clients choose Rollo House
What you actually leave with.
Fewer sessions than IPL
Medical-grade laser targets the follicle at higher energy than home or salon IPL, so most people see meaningful shedding after the first two visits.
Comfortable across large areas
Contact cooling means we can treat full legs, back or chest without the burning heat you get from older machines.
Long-term cost savings
A full-body course replaces years of razors, waxing appointments and product spend. The maths gets kind fast.
Zero ingrowns
Once the follicle is disabled, ingrown hairs and razor bumps in that area go with it. Skin along the bikini line and jaw stays clear.
Total privacy
Private treatment room, one client at a time, doors closed, no clinical waiting area. You undress at your pace.
A therapist who has seen it all
38 years in practice means Alexa and the team have treated every skin type, every life stage and every kind of body. Nothing surprises us, nothing embarrasses us.
The detail behind the treatment
Everything worth knowing before you book.
This is what a good laser clinic actually looks like, and what to ask before you spend money anywhere else in East Lothian.
The machines we use
Rollo House runs four medical-grade hair removal lasers. Multiple devices means we can choose the right wavelength and pulse for your skin tone and hair type rather than forcing everyone through one setting. All four are maintained and calibrated to the standards required for our HIS registration.
Areas we treat
Micro areas such as nostrils, brow and upper lip through to full body courses. Small areas including underarms, basic bikini and chin. Medium areas such as half legs, full face, forearms. Large areas including full legs, back and chest. Single isolated spots and beard shaping for those refining a shaved line rather than removing hair entirely.
Skin tones and hair types
Modern medical lasers work well across a wide range of skin tones when set correctly. The one honest limitation is colour: laser energy needs pigment in the hair to work, so grey, white, blonde and very fine light hair usually will not respond. In that case we will recommend electrolysis on our Apilus Epilase, which is permanent and works regardless of hair colour.
How many sessions you actually need
Most areas need 6–10 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. Hormonal areas (jaw, chin, lower stomach, bikini) usually need more than non-hormonal areas (underarms, lower legs). We keep detailed notes and space your sessions to your actual growth cycle, not a generic salon schedule.
Trans, non-binary and menopausal clients
You are welcome here without explanation. Beard reduction pre- or post-transition, facial hair changes through menopause, PCOS growth patterns, all treated as ordinary work by therapists who have done it for decades. Language matches yours, gowning and draping are private, and consultation notes stay confidential.
What good aftercare looks like
No sun, sunbeds or fake tan for 2 weeks either side of a session. No hot baths, saunas or heavy exercise for 24–48 hours after. Keep the area moisturised and use SPF50 on any treated skin the sun will touch. Full written aftercare goes home with you.
Frequently asked
Straight answers, no fluff.
How much does laser hair removal cost?+
Individual sessions run from £40 for micro areas up to £129 for large areas like full legs or back. Multi-session packages bring the per-session cost down considerably, see the price table above.
How long does a course take?+
Most people need 6–10 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart, so plan for roughly 6–12 months for a full course. Hormonal areas may need longer plus occasional maintenance.
Is it painful?+
Most clients describe it as a warm flick against the skin. Our lasers have built-in cooling and we pace the session around you, not the clock.
Do you guarantee results?+
We do not promise 100% clearance because hormones, medications and genetics all play a part. What we do promise is honest expectations at consultation, correct settings for your skin, and written progress notes so you can see exactly what you are getting for your money.
How long do results last?+
Treated follicles do not regrow. Some areas, particularly hormonal ones, may need annual maintenance to catch new follicles activated by hormonal shifts.
Do you treat all skin tones?+
Yes, across a wide range. We match the machine and settings to your skin at patch test and never guess.
Do you offer emergency or same-day appointments?+
Same-day appointments are sometimes available depending on the diary. Call 07923 105 018 and we will tell you honestly what we have.
Do you serve Haddington, North Berwick and Musselburgh?+
Yes, clients travel to Longniddry Steadings from across East Lothian including Haddington, North Berwick, Musselburgh, Tranent, Prestonpans, Dunbar, Gullane and Pencaitland.
Is Rollo House HIS registered?+
Yes, both the building and the business hold HIS registration for laser treatments.
Is Rollo House insured?+
Yes, fully insured through Insync.
